Anotace:	Velmi podnětná kniha, v níž se snaží autor o věcný dialog rozumu (zastoupeným zde filosofií) s náboženstvím (zastoupeným zde židovskou a křesťanskou věroukou). Přestože v náboženství mohou být obsaženy určité pravdy, bývají poskvrněny nánosy omylů, a proto jediným spolehlivým vodítkem při hledání správné životní cesty nemůže být náboženství, nýbrž výhradně jen rozum (resp. jeho kriticky ověřené, objektivní poznatky). Dílo má otevřený konec (bez rozuzlení), což mohl i nemusel být autorův záměr. Možná tím nechtěl čtenářům naservírovat řešení až pod nos, ale místo toho je chtěl přimět k vlastnímu užívání rozumu.

Anotace:	Svatá Kateřina Sienská (1347–1380) patří mezi významné představitelky středověkého mystického proudu a je jako jedna z mála žen nositelkou titulu „učitelka církve“. Prožila krátký, zato však velmi aktivní život, a to jak na rovině veřejné, tak i vnitřní. V jejím podání se poznání Boha a jeho záměrů neděje jen na rovině teologické reflexe, ale přináší i mnohé praktické přístupy k duchovnímu životu, k reformě církve a celé společnosti. Dialog tak představuje zajímavé svědectví o myšlení středověku, svým obsahem nicméně hranice středověku dalece překonává.
